Aware that, sadly, Riga belongs to the group of shrinking cities, not only mono - functions, but also supply to only one limited social group should be avoided. In order to provide an opportunity for a place to become THE PLACE one must follow the the four main quality criteria of the site i.e. sociality, access & connection, use & activities, comfort & appearance
Currently, the entrance from Brīvības Street is not only visually unattractive, non-functional, but also subordinate to motor vehicles and, therefore, unfriendly to people. That’s why in our proposal we offer to arrange the space of Brīvības Street, creating quality conditions for all traffic participants and to return the tradition by creating the entrance to the complex as a sculptural landmark, which would make the new quarter visible from Brīvības Street and recognizable on a larger scale.
With an emphasis on the concept of traffic and human/bicycle traffic organization, promenade areas are intended exclusively for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The greenery of the park forms the main promenade space, which is supplemented with new high-quality plantings. Innovative yet historically charming, convenient and accessible, green, sustainable, and local - we have created a new space and we offer a new landmark. As a continuation of VEF's historical traditions, as a call for the creation of new history.
