As Marc Augé once said : “Place is simply a place : the one occupied by the indigenous inhabitants who live in it, cultivate it, defend it, mark its strong points and keep its frontiers under surveillance…”

At a time when public outdoor space has become one of the main platforms for socialization, it is important to talk about the challenges of quality urban planning, design and management. The Sporta 2 quarter is becoming Riga’s top-choice destination for art, technology and food lovers, healthy lifestyle enthusiasts, for local people as well as long and short term visitors. It is a great place to work, live, create and celebrate.

In the development concept of Sporta 2 quarter, the features of the neighborhood will change significantly. It is planned to reconstruct the buildings and improve the territory according to the principles of a sustainable city. One of them is also innovative rainwater accumulation and creating an infiltration tank in the form of an open pond. Offices with terraces, commercial spaces, capacious rooms for public and corporate events, restaurants and cafes - it’s the vision we have formed while maintaining the charm of industrial functionalism that Sporta 2 quarter embodies.

Along with mindfulness, slow food, sincere relations and public awareness comes that we like to call - slow architecture. Small steps vs. great visions. Observe global, but go local! Think small, but act big!
