Lightweight, glazed volumes, uncluttered and clearly perceptible transition space, intuitive movement and connectivity - this is our vision of the new Riga International Bus terminal. The proposal that promotes Riga at the international level as a transport hub of European significance, creating more favorable conditions for its development

In order to preserve the visual and functional connection between the Old Town and the Central Market, the newly created waiting rooms are maximally open and transparent. The pavilion volumes - formed in flowing forms, intuitively navigating and creating a natural flow of passengers, - is like a mirror projection of the existing volume with a straight plane view from the canal edge. However, the longitudinal facades of the building are dynamic, creating an individual pattern on each floor.

Each pavilion in the roof line is surrounded by a perforated metal strip following the shape, which covers the space between the lower surface of the trestle and the pavilion ceiling - space intended for the placement of local technical equipment. Thus, an aesthetic and functional solution is obtained.

We are still continuing to develop our vision that already emerged in 2014, when OUTOFBOX Architecture together with ALPS landscape designers proposed to relocate Riga Bus terminal under the Rail Baltica tracks and give back to the public the watersides of Riga Canal and create a new public space.
