Contemporary architecture within historical centres - it’s always a hot topic and catalyst for discussion. Different opinions clash, especially if we’re talking about the most central places in the city. This time it's Cēsis. The project what started as Konrad’s House, turned out to be a small quarter of 4 houses - three historic and one new will form the new space for Draugiem Group. The anchor - the historical Konrad’s House will once again become a cosy residential house with different public functions on the ground floor. 

Next to it - the hottest topic in all discussions - the new volume which is quite uncharacteristic for the city, but it definitely will blend in. We were influenced by the city’s eve lines, small, narrow plots and local textures and materials. All this was transformed into the new anchor - the public building with open spaces, a gallery leading into the courtyard and topped with the terrace which opens views towards the Cēsu Medieval Castle.

Two smaller buildings - Pastor’s House and Carriage House - forms different atmosphere - small short time rent apartments are oriented around the quiet and green courtyard. To achieve the best result - this is where the most prominent specialists in wooden architecture are coming to help us. The renovation will start already in this summer.
